The Science of Creative Intelligence course presents a foundation for all the courses in the Bachelor’s program in the Science and Technology of Consciousness. The Science of Creative Intelligence forms the connection between the sciences of today and ancient Vedic science—the science of consciousness, which includes Yoga and other timeless disciplines for the development of the full potential of life.The unified field theories of modern physics state that all the laws of nature and all matter are expressions of a single underlying field, the unified field. According to Maharishi Vedic Science, this is a field of creative intelligence, which can be experienced through the practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique.

This course explores the unfoldment of higher states of human consciousness—the full realization of one’s own limitless potential—as described by Maharishi and can be experienced naturally and spontaneously by Transcendental Meditation practitioners. The course also gives an overview of how development of consciousness has been experienced and described by people throughout history. Consciousness develops in states; the course examines the experiences belonging to each state, as well as the developmental processes that culture each state, pertinent research, and practical outcomes of these experiences in daily life. This study thereby provides an overview of the range of possible experiences as one develops the full potential of one’s consciousness in the state of enlightenment.

Yoga is an aspect of the ancient tradition of enlightenment expressed in the Vedic literature, brought to light by Maharishi in a scientific framework. According to Maharishi, Yoga includes technologies that unify all aspects of individual and societal life. These technologies unify the mind and body of every individual with the total intelligence of life. One technology of Yoga consists of specific physical postures called the Maharishi Yoga Asanas. The theoretical part of this unique course presents the knowledge of Yoga as union, and provides an understanding of the specific effects of Yoga Asanas on the mind and body — physiology and consciousness.Proper practice of Yoga Asanas — a major aspect of this course — provides students with the experience of deep relaxation, bliss, and expansion of awareness. Since the Maharishi Yoga Asanas are an important aspect of the advanced programs of the Transcendental Meditation technique, this course enables the students to gain knowledge and experience that will support their practice of these programs.

This course examines the objective empirical approach to gaining knowledge and its relationship to subjective development of consciousness. Objective empirical scientific research is the systematic and verifiable study of the laws of nature. Subjective development of consciousness expands one’s intelligence enriching one’s ability to comprehend nature, including oneself. Students study the characteristics of both the objective and subjective methods of gaining knowledge, with their strengths and limitations. Students also explore the unification of these two approaches in a system for gaining complete knowledge about life, and for living the full potential of life, available in Maharishi Vedic Science. This course includes the wide-ranging empirical scientific findings on the Transcendental Meditation technique and its advanced programs for the individual and society, and a study of empirical research methods.

This course presents a series of lectures by Maharishi on a unique interpretation of the ancient philosophy of Yoga, with special emphasis on Patanjali’s Yoga Sūtra, a traditional central text of Yoga. Through Maharishi’s interpretation, the literature of Yoga is understood as having crucial importance for raising individual life to its full potential; and for creating peace in the whole society through practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique and its advanced programs. Students study specific comments Maharishi makes on different Sūtras of the Yoga Sūtra text.
